Multiple ordinal logistic regression revealed greater chances of high nicotine dependence in participants with a history of lung problems (OR= 5.42 95% CI= 1.92-15.32). Conclusion: Nicotine dependence causes serious harm to population health. The use of all forms of nicotine must be avoided.
2025-03-21T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Diane Guerrahttps://revistasaudecoletiva.com.br/index.php/saudecoletiva/article/view/3376An Analysis of Women's Work and Illness2025-03-24T15:43:09-03:00Michella Paula Reismichellacechinel@gmail.comJane Aline Souza Bastos alinebastos3@gmail.comCarla Sabrina Antlogaantlogacarla@gmail.com
This article analyzes the relationship between work overload and women's health deterioration, arguing that the unequal division of labor—combining paid and unpaid work—significantly contributes to women's physical and emotional strain. Statistical data were used to demonstrate the work overload and the higher prevalence of physical and psychological illness among women. The research highlights that, although women take better care of their health and seek medical services more frequently, they exhibit higher rates of chronic diseases, anxiety disorders, and depression compared to men. The text discusses the invisibility of domestic work and its contribution to gender inequality, as well as the need for more comprehensive public policies to support women's overall health. It proposes a redefinition of care work, suggesting a more equitable and sustainable model that values and redistributes these responsibilities, promoting greater social justice and well-being for women.
2025-03-21T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Michella Paula Reis, Aline Bastos , Carla Sabrina Antloga https://revistasaudecoletiva.com.br/index.php/saudecoletiva/article/view/3367Analysis of the Family Functionality of University Students During the Covid-19 Pandemic2025-03-21T10:36:24-03:00Brunna Leonel Machadobrunnaleonel@discente.ufcat.edu.brRoselma Luccheseroselmalucchese@ufcat.edu.brFernanda de Souza Freitasfernandade@discente.ufcat.edu.brDébora Gondim Lopes e Costadeboragondim@discente.ufcat.edu.brAna Carolina Marcarini Coccoanacocco@discente.ufcat.edu.brIvânia Veraivaniavera@gmail.com
Objective: To analyze the family functionality of university students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: Cross-sectional study with 251 students, using an online questionnaire to obtain information about sociodemographic profile and family functionality, evaluated through the Family APGAR. Results: The majority of the students were female, with an average age of 23.8 years, self-declared as non-white, enrolled in their first undergraduate program, not from the university's host city, living in a non-owned house with their father and/or mother, and belonging to the Christian religion. There was a higher prevalence of students belonging to families with good family functionality (94; 37.5%; 95% CI 31.1-43.8), followed by high family dysfunction (88; 35.1%; 95% CI 29.5-41.4). Regarding the domains of the Family APGAR, "Growth" (Development/growth) and "Resolve" (Problem-solving/shared time), were highlighted with 79.8% and 77.7% in functional families, respectively. Objective: To analyze how HIV is configured in the family relationships of people living with HIV. Method: Study conducted at an Infectious Diseases Outpatient Clinic in São Paulo/SP with 37 elderly people living with HIV and 19 family members. Results: Show that HIV in family relationships can be a supporting factor or a determining factor in these relationships. It can be a supporting factor when other family problems are more serious and living with HIV does not interfere with family relationships. However, other families live on constant alert for fear of infecting someone, fear that other people will find out and limit relationships, causing family isolation. These changes occur in biological, psychological, social, behavioral, and other ways. Social and family pressures play a significant role in the construction of identity and the emotional development of young people. This study analyzes the impact of these pressures on the psycho-emotional health of this group, highlighting the relationship between external expectations and the increase in common disorders such as anxiety, depression, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and panic syndrome. In addition, it investigates the influence of social networks on the formation of self-image, the culture of high performance, and the challenges faced in the academic environment. The research also addresses the role of the family in the emotional regulation of young people, highlighting how the lack of adequate support can aggravate psychological suffering. In the school context, pressure to perform and bullying are factors that contribute to the worsening of already existing psycho-emotional problems. Coping strategies, such as social support, promotion of resilience, and socio-emotional education, are discussed as alternatives to minimize the effects of such pressures. It is possible to see that the implementation of measures aimed at the mental health of adolescents, both in the family and school environment, become fundamental in reducing the impacts that deteriorate the health of the child and youth population. The creation of safe spaces for dialogue and the encouragement of emotional self-regulation are essential strategies for strengthening the psycho-emotional well-being of this group.
2025-03-21T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Emerson Pier de Almeida, Maria Auricélia Pereira Brazhttps://revistasaudecoletiva.com.br/index.php/saudecoletiva/article/view/3382Protocol for Assessing the Capacity and Return to Work of Workers with RSI/WMSD2025-03-21T10:36:12-03:00Ana Carla Scardin Pleutimacpleutim@gmail.comSergio Roberto de Luccaacpleutim@gmail.comMarcia Bandiniacpleutim@gmail.comValmir Antonio Zulian de Azevedoacpleutim@gmail.comVitória Melleiroacpleutim@gmail.com
Objective: This study critically analyzed the Protocol for Work Capacity Assessment and Return to Work in workers with repetitive strain injuries and musculoskeletal disorders. Method: The protocol was applied to 17 workers at the Occupational Health Services of CEREST in Piracicaba and the Occupational Medicine outpatient clinic of the Hospital de Clínicas at Unicamp. Result: Results indicate that the protocol is comprehensive and functional, requiring a multidisciplinary team and approximately three hours for full application. Conclusion: Application of the protocol requires specialized training, attention to mental health, worker comprehension, and space adjustments for record-keeping. Footwork exercises performed on the Reformer can have three variations of foot contact with the machine's bar: the toes, the mid-foot, and the heel. The aim of the study was to analyze the differences in lower limb muscle activation in different foot positions during the Footwork exercise of the Pilates method on the Reformer. Twenty-five healthy university students who did not practice Pilates were evaluated through anamnesis, physical examination, and electrical muscle activity of the right lower limb (Electromyograph, 8 channels). During the electromyography, the Footwork exercise was performed on the Reformer with foot variations on the toes, mid-foot, and heels on the bar. The electrical activation of the vastus medialis, vastus lateralis, rectus femoris, and biceps femoris muscles was similar, regardless of the foot position. However, the anterior tibial muscle showed greater activation when the heel was in contact with the bar. The long fibular, gastrocnemius, and soleus muscles were more activated when the toes were in contact with the Reformer (on tiptoe). The study contributed to a better understanding of muscle activation during Pilates exercises and may assist in more individualized therapeutic prescription of Pilates exercises for rehabilitation and performance.
2025-03-21T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Lara Lívia Lacerda Lyra, Ana Isabela Milagres Lourenço, Yasmin Alexandre da Silva, Ingrid Quartarolo Vargas, Marcelo Benevides, Fabiano Moura Dias, Fernanda Moura Vargas Diashttps://revistasaudecoletiva.com.br/index.php/saudecoletiva/article/view/3360Caregivers' Perception of Elderly Patients' Hospital Discharge and Continuity of Care at Home2025-03-21T10:36:35-03:00Samara Mel da Silva Souzasamaramelsouza@gmail.comRita de Cassia Pereira cassiaunivas@hotmail.comJéssica de Aquino Pereirajessica.aquinoo@gmail.com
OBJECTIVE: To investigate caregivers' perception of the guidance provided for hospital discharge of elderly patients, as well as to describe caregivers' sociodemographic and clinical aspects. The research was conducted in three databases: Scielo, the CAPES Periodicals Portal, and Medline, and resulted in a final total of 17 articles that were read and analyzed. Currently, in Brazil, children and adolescents are the largest victims of sexual violence, and the Social Assistance policy, through CREAS, is an important space for intervention in addressing such situations. In this sense, it is concluded that sexual violence against children and adolescents primarily occurs in their own homes, and family members or close individuals are the main perpetrators.
2025-03-21T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Sandra Delarmelina Andrade Ulyana, Alexandre Luiz Polizel, Fernanda Moura Vargas Diashttps://revistasaudecoletiva.com.br/index.php/saudecoletiva/article/view/3394Diagnostic Criteria for Fibromyalgia: Challenges and Future Perspectives2025-03-21T10:35:58-03:00Julia Pitonjulia.piton@acad.ufsm.brBárbara Salvati Grellmannbarbara.salvati@ufn.edu.brDaniela Venturin Baldindani_baldin04@hotmail.comJúlia do Nascimento Marconjnmarcon31@gmail.comJuliana da Rosa Wendtju_wendt@hotmail.com
Fibromyalgia is a chronic syndrome that affects millions of people around the world, characterized by widespread pain, fatigue, hypersensitivity and several other clinical and psycho-emotional symptoms, including sleep disorders and cognitive difficulties. Due to the lack of objective markers, unknown pathophysiology and high variability of clinical presentations, the diagnosis of fibromyalgia remains a very controversial topic today. In this context, this article aims to critically review the diagnostic criteria for fibromyalgia, with an emphasis on its challenges, social impacts and future perspectives. To this end, a literature review was carried out in the PubMed, LILACS and SciElo databases, selecting scientific articles that were in line with the theme. The studies confirmed that, despite the existence of established and validated criteria, the diagnosis of fibromyalgia is still a clinical process that encounters several barriers, negatively impacting the quality of life of affected patients. Therefore, we hidhlight the importance of continued education and research in the field to increase diagnostic accuracy and improve patient care.
2025-03-21T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Julia Piton, Bárbara Salvati Grellmann, Daniela Venturin Baldin, Júlia do Nascimento Marcon, Juliana da Rosa Wendthttps://revistasaudecoletiva.com.br/index.php/saudecoletiva/article/view/3396Neuropsychological Impacts of Screen Use in Children2025-03-21T10:35:55-03:00Lucas José Rodrigues Costa lucas.jrc2@gmail.comGilvago Silva Souza givagosouza@gmail.comEliza Maria da Costa Brito Lacerdaeliza_lacerda@yahoo.com.brGilberto Sousa Alvesgsalves123@hotmail.comCândida Alvescandida.alves@hotmail.com

Objective: Check whether the use of screens is harmful to children and what the impacts of this practice are. Traditional techniques, such as smear microscopy and biochemical assays, often suffer from lengthy processing times and limited sensitivity, necessitating faster and more accurate detection solutions. In addition to improving diagnostic capabilities, it supports timely treatment decisions in a scenario increasingly challenged by emerging infectious diseases. Its transformative role, particularly highlighted during the COVID-19 pandemic, has facilitated rapid diagnostic processes and improved clinical decision-making through data analysis. They have enabled the development of sophisticated algorithms capable of identifying pathogens with remarkable accuracy, as demonstrated by studies showing the effectiveness of models such as Gradient Boosting Machines (GBM) and K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) in clinical settings. They help in antibiotic susceptibility testing, optimizing treatment strategies. Despite the promising potential, several notable challenges and controversies remain. Problems related to the quality and representativeness of data can lead to algorithmic biases, which can hinder the effectiveness of AI applications in various patient demographic groups. Regulatory frameworks are also evolving to address the complexities of AI in healthcare, with a focus on safety, efficacy and ethical considerations around patient data privacy and algorithm transparency.
2025-03-21T00:00:00-03:00Copyright (c) 2025 Alexandre Nascimento da Silva Chaveshttps://revistasaudecoletiva.com.br/index.php/saudecoletiva/article/view/3418Dysthanasia in Pediatric Patients: A Bioethical Discussion2025-03-21T10:35:48-03:00Júlia da Mata Dias Corrêajuliamatacorrea@gmail.comRonaldo Melo Dias Netordiasneto2001@hotmail.comAna Julia Rodrigues Bezamatjujubezamat@gmail.comAkemi Svaiter Tominagaakemitominaga2804@gmail.comBernardo Teixeira Amarantebetexamarante@gmail.comElizabeth Alt Parenteelizaltparente@yahoo.com.br
Objective: This study develops a bioethical analysis, from the perspective of principlism, on dysthanasia in pediatrics, with the aim of discussing this practice in the medical setting, the decision-making of those involved and its bioethical implications.
