Prevenção de lesão por pressão na assistência de enfermagem intensivista

Abstract

The aim is to evaluate the performance of nursing staff of intensive care in preventing injury from pressure. This is a descriptive cross-sectional study, conducted in the intensive care unit of a northeastern capital general hospital. The sample consisted of 70 professionals from nursing staff. The data were collected through observational script and questionnaire. In 24 patients (88.9%), there was no realization of the change in decubitus; in 10 patients (37%), there was the trade of sheet when necessary; 13 patients (48.1%) did not have appropriate cushions to prevent local pressure; only 1 patient (3.7%) had strict monitoring of team of nutrition and dietetics. It is concluded that the nursing professionals do not have sufficient knowledge about the topic. It is necessary to conduct training with the team, to encourage and stimulate the professionals through the supervision and implementation of validated protocols and based on literature.
