Aspectos da masculinidade como impeditivo do autocuidado na saúde do homem

Abstract

Objective: To describe how masculinity interferes in the process of self-care for men's health and discuss how nursing care interferes in this process. Methodology: Integrative literature review, qualitative approach. The collection was carried out in the indexable database in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) by means of three to three combined descriptors. Results: From the results found and the analysis of the selected articles, 10 articles composed the sample. The studies indicate that the man within a sociocultural and historical context, is restricted the search of the own health. In this sense, nursing as an agent of actions that promotes health and care, as an improvement of the technical scientific knowledge regarding the health of man, can create strategies to deal with the peculiarities of man so that the maximum possible reduction of the indicators of morbimortality which delineates the health of men. Conclusion: It is necessary to strengthen the scientific technical education in the academies regarding the health of the man, for the preparation of the future professionals, of the managers in making the politics directed to the masculine public be implanted.
