It is clear that with technological advances, the demand for more specific exams increases, so the demand for MRI has increased significantly. It is necessary that the patient has the knowledge of the risks of the examination as well as the discomfort for better management. The nurse performs the function of managing patient safety and reducing stress by promoting orientation or positive relationship that fosters feelings of security and cooperation. Therefore, the objective of this study was to report the experience experienced by the Nursing team of the Magnetic Resonance (MRI) service focusing on the recognition of the main risks to the patient who performs magnetic resonance imaging of the whole abdomen. The experience in the period from January to July 2018. The main concern is about patient safety in the aspect of intravenous drug administration, application of contrast and patient positioning and anxiety of the same. Thus, the patient undergoing this type of examination is exposed to physical, mechanical, chemical, biological and psychological risks. It was observed that the professional qualification and the adequate management of the nursing team make possible a higher quality assistance contributing to a better patient safety in the accomplishment of these exams.
