Abstract

Objective: identify the knowledge of nursing professionals about the epidemiological, ethical and legal aspects of violence against children and adolescents, such as: type, nature and conduct of violence in emergencies. Method: This is a quantitative, cross-sectional study with nursing professionals at the Children's and Maternity Hospital of São José do Rio Preto   who responded to the instrument that assesses knowledge about domestic violence against children and adolescents. Results: The study had 30 participants from the nursing field who answered a questionnaire about knowledge about domestic violence against children. The results indicated satisfactory levels of knowledge in 100% of nurses, 75% of nursing technicians and 69% of nursing assistants. Conclusion: The lowest level of knowledge score was for the type of violence domain and the highest for the conduct of professionals in relation to violence against children. The higher the educational requirement, the greater the knowledge about the conduct of professionals in relation to violence against a child.
