The aim was to describe the risk factors for opioid-induced respiratory depression related to the characteristics of the surgical procedures. Retrospective study of a quantitative approach, held at anesthetic recovery room, with documental analysis in medical records of surgical patients using opioids. The data were collected between March and June 2018. Performed statistical analysis descriptive. Were analyzed 330 medical records of patients who used opioid intraoperatively. Prevalence of adult patients (63.33%), female (56.36%), not obese (89.39%), cardiovascular diseases (43.03%). The most prevalent risk factors related to the anesthetic-surgical period were general anesthesia (64.85%), dorsal decubitus (53.94%) and average time of 2 hours and 49 minutes anesthesia. It is concluded that the recognition of patients with risk factors for opioid-induced respiratory depression related to the characteristics of the procedures.
