NURSING MANAGEMENT OF HEMODIALYSIS UNIT IN SUITABILITY FOR COVID-19 CARE: EXPERIENCE REPORT

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: to report the experience of the nurse manager of the nursing team of a hemodialysis unit, in the search for strategic solutions to face the COVID-19 pandemic. METHODS: This is an experience report of the planning of actions carried out by the manager of the nursing team in the care of patients in a public hospital of reference in northeastern Brazil. RESULTS: Guidelines regarding the disease were carried out, SOPs (Standard Operating Procedure) were elaborated. and training on precautionary measures for the nursing staff. CONCLUSION: Coping with the pandemic generated fear and insecurity in the care team, whose demand for care and professional permanence with the patient was necessary for long periods. However, as employees were instructed about the disease, as well as practical training in precautionary measures, there was a reduction in the team's insecurity in the work environment.
