Abstract

OBJETIVO. To assess the influence of fibromyalgia on sleep quality in women with obesity. METHOD: A cross-sectional study was conducted with women diagnosed with fibromyalgia and obesity. Descriptive, correlation, and linear regression analyses were performed using anthropometric data and scores from the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, the Revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire, and the Visual Analog Scale. RESULT: The findings revealed a positive association between Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index scores and values from the Revised Fibromyalgia Impact Questionnaire, the Visual Analog Scale for pain, and Body Mass Index. The regression model indicated that both the impact of fibromyalgia and excess weight independently negatively affect sleep quality. CONCLUSION: Treatments aimed at improving sleep quality in women with fibromyalgia should include strategies targeting the reduction of obesity-related impacts.
