Objective: To understand coping strategies used by nursing students who balance work and academic training. Method: Qualitative, exploratory study conducted with 13 nursing students who worked during their academic training. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and analyzed using thematic content analysis. Results: Five categories emerged: time fragmentation, academic demands, adaptive strategies, sleep deprivation and emotional distress, and coping resources. Students used individual strategies to remain in the course, but with significant health impacts. Conclusion: Coping strategies are essential for academic continuity but are associated with negative health outcomes, highlighting the need for institutional support.
