PROFILE OF ACADEMIC MONITORING IN THE TEACHING AND LEARNING PROCESS

Objective: to analyze the monitoring program for the teaching and learning process of Health Statistics. Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study on the subject of Health Statistics, developed in a Public Institution of Higher Education in Ceará, in December 2020. To evaluate the follow-up activities, a semi-structured questionnaire was prepared using the Google Form. The collected data was organized in a synoptic table. The data analysis was carried out by means of the synthesis of the collected responses, in the Excel program, version 13.0, using absolute frequencies and percentages. Results: 34 students participated, mostly women (61.8%). Regarding the positive aspects: 9 (26.5%) students mentioned the availability of the monitors to answer questions, 7 (20.6%) listed the didactics used, 6 (17.6%) mentioned that the study materials were of excellent quality and well prepared, 4 (11.8%) referred adequate methodology and review, 3 (8.8%) indicated good organization, help in solving exercises, objectivity, attention to those monitored, synchrony with the content taught by the teacher and good targeting. Regarding the negative aspects, 29 (85.3%) of those monitored did not show any divergence between the expected competencies and the activities carried out by the monitors. Conclusion: the academic monitoring program, implemented in the discipline, was positively evaluated, since it provided the integration between theoretical and practical knowledge, the development of communication skills and the role of monitors.
